BIT's 9th Annual World DNA and Genome Day (WDD-2018)

Thank you for attending WDD-2018. Please read carefully the following instructions and guidelines for paper submissions and oral presentations.

1. Preparations - Speech Title
A speech title is necessary for every speaker to give a speech, which can be highly representative of the central idea of his research work. Please send your speech title by E-mail to Jessica@dnaday.com or judy@mol-cell.com or bonnie@mol-cell.com and kindly adhere to the following standards of the title:

  1. Be Brief and Concise. Generally, a title is supposed to be no more than 20 words.
  2. Be Specific. A general title should be avoided.
  3. Avoid Question Titles.
  4. Be Standard. Nonstandard abbreviations and symbols should be avoided.
  5. Capitalization. Please notice that the following words ought to be capitalized: ①The first words of sentences, ②Key (Notional) words in titles, ③Proper names.

2. Preparations - Paper Abstract
All speakers have the opportunity to write a short abstract of their research work, which is supposed to be no more than 150 words. Please send your abstract by E-mail to Jessica@dnaday.com or judy@mol-cell.com or bonnie@mol-cell.com. Selected Abstracts will be listed on the conference website after acceptation.
We kindly request that you keep the cut-off dates for paper submission in mind: March 1, 2018

3. Preparations - Biography
Your session chairman will need your biography to introduce you as speaker. Your biography shall not exceed a maximum of 250 words.
Your biography shall be in English. Use the Spelling & Grammar button to check for language errors.

4. Your Written Presentation
Please prepare your presentation in the English language. The absolute deadline to include your presentation in the Conference Proceedings is March 1, 2018. We need to receive your paper in our office on or before this date. Papers Received After This Date Cannot Be Included In The Printed Conference Proceedings. Please submit your paper in MS Word through email to Jessica@dnaday.com or judy@mol-cell.com or bonnie@mol-cell.com.


5. Format of Your Written Paper = A5

Your paper should contain the following: (Please refer to the enclosed Example Document)

  1. Title
  2. Personal information: Name, position, employer of speaker, country.
  3. Abstract.
  4. Personal resume of speaker under the heading ‘Biography’.

Please present in the following manner:

  1. Title: Times New Roman, Exactly 12-point bold type, line spacing 12 pt
  2. Name: Times New Roman, 8-point bold and italic type, line spacing 10 pt
  3. Others of personal information: Times New Roman, 8-point regular type, line spacing 10 pt
  4. The Words “Abstract” and “Biography”: Times New Roman, 10-point bold and italic type, line spacing 10 pt
  5. Content of Abstract and Biography: Times New Roman, 8-point regular type, line spacing 10 pt
Your paper will be printed as you deliver it. Please make sure that all materials are of a representative quality. Your paper should not exceed the limit of 1 A5 page in length. Important Note: Copies of overheads or PowerPoint slides are NOT ACCEPTABLE as your written paper.

6. Your Oral Presentation

Digital presentation
For your oral presentation you may bring a PowerPoint file on a CD or USB flash drive (memory stick), or email it as an attachment to Jessica@dnaday.com or judy@mol-cell.com or bonnie@mol-cell.com. The organizers will copy these files onto the general laptop for beamer projection. It is suggested that you email a copy of your presentation to your personal inbox as a backup. If for some reason the files can’t be accessed from your flash drive, you will be able to download them to the computer from your email.

All oral presenters are required to submit an electronic version of their presentation either by 7:00pm of the day prior to their presentation at the registration desk, or in the meeting room of their presentation 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the session. All presentations will be scanned for viruses and subsequently loaded on the main projector computer. Any changes to a file prior to its presentation must be made through the Registration Desk.

Use of your own laptop is not recommended
● Movies: If your PowerPoint files contain movies please make sure that they are well formatted and connected to the main files.
● Timing: Please make sure your presentation is well timed. Every speaker has a maximum of 20 minutes total, including speaking time and discussion. Please keep in mind that the program is full and that the speaker after you would like their allocated time available to them.
